We regretfully announce the passing of member 99-36 Dennis Hammel. He will be missed by many and remembered by even more for the phrase "Save my baby!" "Save my baby!" from Fire Fighter 1 at the Sussex County Fire Academy.

This event has prompted the creation of something that should have been done long ago, a memorial page for our fallen members and affiliate members. Check the "Silent Keys" menu item for the memorial page.

I regret to announce the passing of 99-83 K. G. Jernstrom from our membership. My father, although not public safety related, enjoyed avid scanner listening and our reports of working jobs through our system. He will be missed greatly. Luv ya Dad.

The Operations Repeater has been replaced with a new system. No more crashing noises or drowning itself out when keying in! Thank 99-10 and 99-00 for their efforts.

October 14, 1997    99-02

NWECS has been in service for a few years running now. Many changes have taken place from Subscribership to equipment we've been slowly doing some pretty cool things. From starting out with the first and original repeater (known to all as "ops") being in my garage, with an antenna on a 6ft pole in the backyard to it's current site atop the water tower.... we've come a long way!! Now we have THREE systems total (Ops, Statewide, and Tac 1), we're sprouting up antennas just about anywhere we can find a space for! As we are not in this for any profit, the equipment, time and money spent are all part of the founders and supervisors thus far. Subscribership 'dues' have paid for some equipment and maintenance costs as well. Problem is... we're running out of funds!!!!!

We plan on a semi-total revamping of things beginning with a review and assessment of the systems, documentation guidelines and more. Hopefully for 1998, new items of documentation and "how this ship is run" will be in place.
